Vegetarian .

I had dinner at this Vegetarian restaurant next to Klinik Bukit Beruang near my place. It seems to be managed by an affiliate of a Buddhist association . The food was superb and tasted extremely close to the real thing except for the chicken curry. We had butter prawns, Butter Mushrooms, and chicken curry with rice. Everything was nice both taste wise and price wise at RM 30ish for 4and MMU students are encouraged to go. ;)) Thanks Lynn and Arif and Mega for the dinner. ;)) .

My saving grace.

I was Barbie for Halloween, so for this Xmas I wanted to be something dramatic and found out the theme for this holiday was all about glittery magic and mischief. I think the best way to achieve that is via makeup, and I have none to match. But I don't want to spend on new year's makeup either. I need something flexible.

After surveying on the net, I found something so unheard of yet so amazing ! Its called KRYOLAN and apparently this makeup is the OFFICIAL MAKEUP FOR MISS UNIVERSE 2009! Oh, if it is good enough for the beauty queens.There are many reviews only regarding this product where apparently it is the favourite among makeup artists as it can create illusions of a perfect skin and the color palates are amazing for creating all kinds of makeups, from natural to glam to gothic punk. Here are some looks by Kryolan that I find amazing and wanted to use for the holiday and/or the new year ;

Girls are familiar with pain everytime we pluck our eyebrows right ? Well now we do not need to compromise as the Kryolan Eyebrow Plastic is here ! Here's what the website rave about it :
KRYOLAN Eybrow Plastic - RM49 (18g)

Shaving off eyebrows ends up in a mess as they grow back in. Often, the hairs grow back in odd directions or thicker in portions of the brow where that had not been the case before. And if you dont like to trim or shave your eyebrows, you cover your eyebrows with this stuff, it is like a sealer for your eyebrow.

How to use it?

Using a spatula scrape of a small ball of eyebrow plastic from the stick. Warm between your fingers to make it easier to spread on top of eyebrows. Using the metal spatula apply it on top of brow. The eyebrow plastic should completely cover the hair. You shouldn't see any hairs coming through the eyebrow plastic. Make sure that your eyebrow plastic is as smooth as possible. You can use Vaseline to help smooth the plastic down.

Once the brow is completely smooth, powder with a powder puff or brush with no color powder. If the brow color underneath is black you may need to apply an orange concealer 508, 303, mand to conceal the brow like you conceal your eye bag. Then apply foundation that same color with your skin tone.

Lastly powder very well with powder puff or brush again. Dab the powder into the foundation to set it. You can then start drawing your desired eyerbrow shape as below.

Seems so easy right ? Well this product won me over. However, there is one obstacle, where can I get these babies in Malaysia ? I surfed some more and found Kryolan IN Malaysia, a website that carries Kryolan in Malaysia. They are very consumer friendly and willing to answe every comment and question thrown in. They are also having a contest where you get to win a foundation by Kryolan worth rm 53. All you have to do is;

1. Follow them at Kryolan In Malaysia
2. Blog about the product !

This is good as we can try this product for free which I intend to do. Goodluck Girls ! and err guys if any ;)))

Blah !

Im so annoyed at the current facilities at MMU Law Library. Considering the money they bleed from us, we expect at least decent facilities. Well, I am now at the library trying my bloodiest to do my Probate Assignment. I cannot find any books, because for each subject we only have about 10 different reference books and we have to share these books so if one person is using, chances of others are verry slim indeed. Then come the computers, with only 5, majority with no proper Microsoft Word, and the condition is saddening, how am I supposed to do my work ? I cannot even paste the sources on my email ! I might as well just stay in bed and use my bloody broadband. My Dad provide me better services and I dont even bloody have to pay him ! MMU is cheating law students, seriously. We all have to pay the same amount of IT and Library Fees, and yet our facilities are sadly lacking. Books stay the same amount, so does computers and yet Law students increased yearly. How are we to cope ? Even our SRC cannot do anything about it ! I wish someone will have the guts to bring the press to our library to highlight our sad situation to the nation. Do not send your children to MMU ok?? Easy passing is rubbish ! MMU Law Students work hard, even more than UITM Law students.I have compared the paper.

Stay Healthy, the Barbie Way.

Barbie will soon turn 50 on the 9th of March. To mark the birthday of the iconic doll, a researcher takes a sneak in to what the doll might have to do in-order to maintain her hour-glass figure.

The doll stands 11 inches tall and has more careers than most people might have clothes. Barbie is branded as a poster child for what you might look like if you took good care of yourself by Cindy Haines, M.D., a family doctor and clinical assistant professor of family and community medicine at Saint Louis University.

"While Barbie probably has been blessed with good genes, she has obviously paid attention to her health and focused ahead to do what she can to prevent health problems. You can tell that she's an excellent patient and puts a health at the top of her priority list," Haines said.

"Having been a tennis player, aerobics instructor, equestrian, lifeguard, ballet dancer, and gymnast, Barbie loves to exercise and has washboard abs and a tiny waist to prove it. She knows that regular, weight bearing activity is one of the best things you can do to keep your bones strong and stave off osteoporosis," the expert added

She probably loves the Mediterranean diet, which is rich in fruits and vegetables that contain a high ratio of antioxidants.
"Barbie's been a McDonald's cashier, candy saleswoman and a soda fountain waitress, but likely rejects most food sold on the job", Haines said.

"She probably loves the Mediterranean diet, which is rich in fruits and vegetables that contain a high ratio of antioxidants to combat aging. Because she watches what she eats and exercises, her cholesterol levels likely are on target, and she probably doesn't have to take medication," the expert said.

She goes on to say that Barbie might enjoy a cocktail sometimes, but she never smokes. "You can tell because her skin is nice and firm, she has long luxurious hair and bright, white teeth. And on the inside, I suspect her heart is strong, her arteries plaque-free and her lungs are clear," she said.

Though the beautiful doll never married to have kids, she always surrounds herself with loved ones. "Numerous studies show that staying socially connected and living up to your potential can help ward off dementia, so Barbie is doing what she can to stay mentally healthy," Haines said.

However, Haines says that Barbie might have got a slight plastic surgery or a cosmetic job done to defy gravity and look her best. "She may have had some fillers. There are definitely things you can do to make slight tweaks in your appearance," she said.

Eat Less Rice. Taken from the Malaysian Babes Forum

Eat Less Rice? Why?

The human body was never meant to consume rice! You see, our genes have hardly changed in more than 30,000 years. However, our food choices and lifestyle have changed dramatically. The caveman would hardly recognise our food or way of life.

Caveman food was never cooked as fire was not yet tamed. Thus, he ate only those foods that you can eat without treatment with or by fire. He ate fruits, vegetables, fish (sushi anyone?), eggs, nuts and meat. Yes, even meat! You can even eat meat raw if you were starving in the forest. You have the necessary enzymes to digest meat.

However, rice, like wheat and corn, cannot be eaten raw. It must be cooked. Even if you were starving in the desert, you cannot eat rice in the raw form. This is because we do not have the system of enzymes to break rice down. You were never meant to eat rice. To make matters worse, you not only eat rice, but also make it the bulk of your food.

In some parts of Asia , rice forms up to 85% of the plate. Even if you take rice, keep it to a minimum. Remember, it is only for your tongue - not your body. Actually, rice and other grains like wheat and corn are actually worse than sugar. There are many reasons:

Rice becomes sugar- Lots of it!
This is a fact that no nutritionist can deny: rice is chemically no different from sugar. One bowl of cooked rice is the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar. This does not matter whether it is white, brown or herbal rice. Brown rice is richer in fibre, some B vitamins and minerals but it is still the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar. To get the same 10 teaspoons of sugar, you need to consume lots of kangkong-10 bowls of it.

Rice is digested to become sugar.
Rice cannot be digested before it is thoroughly cooked. However, when thoroughly cooked, it becomes sugar and spikes circulating blood sugar within half an hour-almost as quickly as it would if you took a sugar candy. Rice is very low in the 'rainbow of anti-oxidants.

This complete anti-oxidant rainbow is necessary for the effective and safe utilisation of sugar.. Fruits come with a sugar called fructose. However, they are not empty calories as the fruit is packed with a whole host of other nutrients that help its proper assimilation and digestion.

Rice has no fibre.
The fibre of the kangkong fills you up long before your blood sugar spikes. This is because the fibre bulks and fills up your stomach. Since white rice has no fibre, you end up eating lots of 'calorie dense' food before you get filled up. Brown rice has more fibre but still the same amount of sugar.

Rice is tasteless-sugar is sweet.
There is only so much that you can eat at one sitting. How many teaspoons of sugar can you eat before you feel like throwing up? Could you imagine eating 10 teaspoons of sugar in one seating?

Rice is always the main part of the meal.
While sugar may fill your dessert or sweeten your coffee, it will never be the main part of any meal. You could eat maybe two to three teaspoons of sugar at one meal. However, you could easily eat the equal value of two to three bowls (20-30 teaspoons) of sugar in one meal. I am always amused when I see someone eat sometimes five bowls of rice (equals 50 teaspoons of sugar) and then asks for tea tarik kurang manis!

There is no real 'built in' mechanism for us to prevent overeating of rice:
How much kangkong can you eat?
How much fried chicken can you eat?
How much steamed fish can you eat?
Think about that!

In one seating, you cannot take lots of chicken, fish or cucumber, but you can take lots of rice. Eating rice causes you to eat more salt. As rice is tasteless, you tend to consume more salt-another villain when it comes to high blood pressure. You tend to take more curry that has salt to help flavor rice. We also tend to consume more ketchup and soy sauce which are also rich in salt.

Eating rice causes you to drink less water.
The more rice you eat, the less water you will drink as there is no mechanism to prevent the overeating of rice. Rice, wheat and corn come hidden in our daily food. As rice is tasteless, it tends to end up in other foods that substitute rice like rice flour, noodles and bread. We tend to eat the hidden forms which still get digested into sugar.

Rice, even when cooked, is difficult to digest...
Can't eat raw rice? Try eating rice half cooked. Contrary to popular belief, rice is very difficult to digest. It is 'heavy stuff'. If you have problems with digestion, try skipping
Rice prevents the absorption of several vitamins and minerals.
Rice when taken in bulk will reduce the absorption of vital nutrients like zinc, iron and the B vitamins.

Are you a rice addict? Going rice-less may not be easy but you can go rice-less. Eating less rice could be lot easier than you think. Here are some strategies that you can pursue in your quest to eat less rice:

Eat less rice-cut your rice by half.
Barry Sears, author of the Zone Diet, advises 'eating rice like spice'. Instead, increase your fruits and vegetables. Take more lean meats and fish. You can even take more eggs and nuts.

Have 'riceless' meals.
Take no rice or wheat at say, breakfast. Go for eggs instead.

Go on 'riceless' days.
Go 'western' once a week for example or whatever that you feel like eating, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Malay or whatsoever, just don't take the rice.

Take no rice and breads for one day every week.
That can't be too difficult. Appreciate the richness of your food. Go for taste, colours and smells. Make eating a culinary delight. Enjoy your food in the original flavours.

Avoid the salt shaker or ketchup.
You will automatically eat less rice.

Eat your fruit dessert before (Yes! No printing error) your meals.
The fibre rich fruits will 'bulk up' in your stomach. Thus, you will eat less rice and more fruits. And most importantly, your digestive system will digest the Fruits 1st, and absorb the Good stuff before your main course.

It's your life. Decide what you want to eat! But eat less rice!
